Engaging groups of older adults: Playing games on Touch Tablets

Two mobile game apps “Memory” and “Reveal” mediate the active engagement of older adults in a group setting. Both games are adaptable to individual interests, providing a template for exchangeable content. They take into account familiarity with existing board games, but have unique and novel interaction mechanisms leveraging the touch screen to its full extent. The games enable a group to play simultaneously, instead of only one person per device, thus encouraging storytelling and social interaction. Both apps were accepted as NTROs.
