Assoc. Prof. Kurt Seemann
Kurt’s research focus is on education and Initial teacher education (ITE) in the context of rural and remote communities. He has national and internationally recognised expertise in holistic technology education related to the curriculum method areas of design and innovation. Complementing his rural and remote community context for the understanding of learning and curriculum, Kurt has also framed his education research in how to frame the societal scale of systems driving and defining the sustainability of human settlements.
Kurt has developed particular expertise in cross-cultural and indigenous technology education. He has developed a strong track record in mentoring and senior leadership towards developing research cultures in the VocEd, and higher education sectors across disciplines, while personally also drawing on his interest in the contribution that innovative curriculum and education play in the sustainable development of communities and the smart citizen.
Kurt was the Founding Director of the Centre for Design Innovation 2013-2018 inclusive.
He is a member of the World Society for Ekistics whose charter restricts membership to 400 worldwide, while also a board member for DATTA Victoria. He has won numerous nominations, awards and extensive peer recognition.
